Review: YSL Summer Look 2014

ysl-vernis-summer-collection-2014-001This year, YSL presents a colorful and vibrating collection that was inspired by the beauty of nature, water and endless skies:

“Color is born of light. Light is born of color. This summer, Lloyd Simmons gives in to the fascinaton of the blues so dear to Monsieur Saint Laurent. Celadon, Majorelle, Cyclades. For the summer look 2014, he was inspired by the movements of water mirroring the sun, and a play of Chiaroscuro celebrates the way blue is exalted by its complementary colors.”

YSL was so kind as to send me two products of their current collection that I would like to review today.

ysl-vernis-summer-collection-2014-004 ysl-vernis-summer-collection-2014-005The first one being is La Laque Couture in Bleu Celadon No. 50, a wonderful and intense turquoise blue shade. It is a very cool and neutral tone that reminds me a lot of the famous Tiffany packaging, and I find it to be a nice nail polish for spring and summer. The quality is very good. Thanks to a flat, wide brush with a slightly rounded tip, the application is easy and only takes one stroke per nail. After two layers of nail polish you can achieve full coverage, and to my suprise, the formula dries very fast. You can expect this nail polish to last at least four days, but it will start to peel off on the fifth day (just my experience with regular use).

Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres No. 112 (Dangerous Pink) is a mixture of lip gloss and stain and makes for a wonderful everyday beauty gadget. The lightweight texture immediately melts onto the lips, delivering intense glossy color and extremely long-lasting shine. With two thin layers, you can create a make-up look that will last the whole day, as this gloss leaves an intense colored stain on your lips.
