A few weeks ago I stumbled upon a talented jewelry designer. Sara Lashay (currently living in Germany), is a young artist who creates beautiful and extraordinary jewelry at her german studio. Inspired by nature and its beautiful colours and shapes, Sara´s designs are very aesthetic and unique. In fact, I like her jewelry collection so much that there is literally not a single piece that I wouldn´t want to wear. And since she is such a gifted designer, I thought I´d do a little interview with her for you guys:
1. Dear Sara, tell me a little bit about you. How did you become a jewelry designer?
When I came to Germany, I was a flight attendant at EMIRATES. But since EMIRATES didn´t have a base here in Frankfurt, I had to leave my job. On the hunt for a new occupation, I attended a goldsmith school in my free time. It was there where I was introduced into the art of creating jewelry and where I found my destiny as a designer.
2. Where do you create/produce your jewelry pieces?
I have a big, well equipped studio in Darmstadt where all pieces of my jewelry line are being made. There are thousands of stones, silver and other materials that are waiting to be transformed into a design.
3. Where do you draw your inspiration from?
Day by day I am being inspired by the wonderful nature outside my studio. Colorful flowers, fishes or butterflies form the grounds for many of my designs! Sometimes a look out of my window is all I need to get started on something new. But of course I also take cues from fashion magazines during this process and and evaluate how a product could fit into there.
You can find Sara Lashay´s jewelry in her online-shop. Just in case you might not find anything (which is very unlikely), there´s always the possibility to create your own design and place a special order :-)
